Sustainable Transportation

The Transportation Department participates in several green initiatives to ensure TTUSD does everything possible to maintain the beauty of our region.

One of the Transportation Department's strongest programs is recycling.  The following items are collected and recycled:

- Absorbent Materials
- Aerosol Spray
- Aluminum
- Batteries
- Cans
- Cardboard
- Coolant
- Fluorescent Bulbs
- Glass
- Metal
- Motor Oil
- Oil Filters
- Solvents
- Tires

There is also a water recycling system built into the bus wash system.

The Transportation Department has also received grants and other funding for their sustainability efforts, receiving approximately $750,000 to replace three buses, along with installing 21 diesel particulate filters (DPF) on the old buses.

There was also a grant of $25,000 for a DPF blaster and oven, allowing TTUSD to reuse the filters many times.
