Ryan Galles, Principal

Hello Truckee Elementary Families! I am going into my 24th year in education. I began my career as a substitute at TTUSD. I was also a classroom teacher, principal and district office administrator. I spent 6 years as a 4th-6th grade teacher in Sacramento and then became a principal in South Lake Tahoe. The last 6 years have been as an elementary curriculum director in Vacaville Unified School District. I have 2 sons, 19 and 17 years old. My oldest son, Reid, goes to Chico State. My youngest son, Riley, is going to be a high school senior and is on the Davis HS ski team. I love all outdoor activities, including skiing, snowshoeing , skate skiing, hiking, backpacking and mountain biking. My parents and both siblings live in Reno and I am super excited to be closer to them. I am overjoyed to be returning to an elementary school site because I love the community that is built in elementary schools. I am honored to be the principal at Truckee Elementary. Go Cubs!

Ashley Perkins, Assistant Principal

I am thrilled to be the Assistant Principal at Truckee Elementary School. Before stepping into this role, I was a classroom teacher for the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District for 14 years.  Specifically, I have worked at TES, for nine of those years. My classroom experience has given me a deep appreciation for the daily dynamics of the classroom and the needs of our students.  I am passionate about the staff, students, and families of our school community. My focus in education is student centered on creating a school where students feel safe, supported, and excited to learn. 

I graduated from Green Mountain College in Vermont earning a BS in Elementary Education with a Special Education Endorsement. I earned an M.Ed from Sierra Nevada College in Teaching and Leadership with a specialization in teaching English as a Second Language. I completed a second M.Ed program in School Administration in 2018. 

I moved to Truckee, California from New York 15 years ago. I have twin six-year-old daughters who love attending Truckee Elementary. Outside of school, my passions include spending time swimming, skiing, traveling, rafting, and working on projects at home.
